Hi my name is Jo and I opened Silk in November 2007 following my wedding in July of that same year. 

I was inspired to open Silk as a result of my own dress shopping experience. I really loved my wedding dress and I felt it captured my personality, the feel of our wedding and most importantly I felt a million dollars wearing it on my big day, but thinking back to the shopping experience I realised that it could have been so much better.  It would have been lovely if the assistants that I met had wanted to chat about my big day, to give me advice about the shape that would best suit my less than perfect figure, or just to help me to relax and have fun, but none of that happened. There didn’t seem to be a shop in my area that offered a great service, with fabulous dresses and in a great location so I decided to open my own shop.

We've just celebrated our 5th birthday and I'm really proud to have been one of the first of the new breed of bridal shops that have opened in recent years, who realise that brides are incredibly discerning, they know what they want from their supplier and for whom, quite rightly, only the best will do.  Judging by the feedback that we receive from the happy brides that walk out of our door with a dress in their arms, a smile on their face and a “Silk hug” to send them on their way, I'm pleased to say that I think we're getting it just right!

Of course none of this would be possible without our fabulous designers. We have stunning collections from designers including Jenny Packham, Sassi Holford, Claire Pettibone, Blue Bridalwear, Jesus Peiro and Pronovias. With such a varied selection of styles there really is something for everyone. Our prices range from £1500 to £3000.

Silk is located in a beautiful barn conversion just 3 miles from the Cathedral city of Lichfield in Staffordshire. We’re really easy to reach and brides travel from all over the country, and beyond to visit us. See our location map or contact us. We really look forward to meeting you soon at Silk.
